Going to Hawaii

For anyone planning to attending the Author Lunch Talk at the Asia Society, I need to reschedule it and make a trip to Hawaii.  I am sorry for any inconvenience, and very grateful to the Asia Society for making this possible, and for welcoming me back later.

Rahna,
I heard you last night on To the Best of Our Knowledge, and then found your blog when I looked you up online. Based upon the quick 'catching up' that I did, and that you had to leave suddenly for Hawaii, I'm guessing that something has happened with your mom. I just wanted to let you know, that I have fond memories of being at your house with both your mom and your dad. I lost my mom just a couple of weeks ago (sudden, unexpected, and really difficult to wrap my head around). I guess I just wanted you to know that your parents touched people--and even more than 30 years later, I still think about them.

Hi Karen, Thank you for this note. I am so sorry to hear about your mother. I can't imagine that sudden is better than slow. I was going to send you a personal note, but I can't get access to you via blogger.

So many people have sent their love. Some clearly struggle for words. I find that my responses are only marginally better than the person who said, "I hope she gets better!" I truly believe in spirit, and that this is a great journey, but that doesn't dull the sorrow. Both exist side by side, and will for some time.

Sending you strength, and love and gratitude. Feel free to send me an email on the contact page.

Did Shirley pass on? That's sad. My condolences to you and your dad, Rahna.

I loved that photo of your parents on the back cover of Jim's new book about lures. They both looked so happy together.
